Creative Endeavors Update

Creative Endeavors art show last Saturday was a huge success with talented artists displaying their works and with the outstanding attendance from our residents. The support the community gave the artists was greatly appreciated. It is amazing the number of truly professional crafts people and artists we have right here in our community.

We hope the event charges interest in our Creative Endeavors group. We meet every Thursday from 10:00-12:00 at the Club House. Most times we bring our own projects to work on but, we also plan special activities for our group and sponsor community projects. One of those activities is crochet classes. Because of the great response, we are having two crochet classes meeting Monday and Tuesday nights at 6:00 PM starting September 19th and 20th for three weeks. Unfortunately, both classes are full but, we can always consider more classes after the first of the year.

For upcoming activities, we have planned classes for painting funny faces on real pumpkins, velvet pumpkins, paper poinsettias, a quilting presentation and crating unique Christmas cards. All are on the agenda before the first of the year. If you have a special interest let us know and we will try to have a learning activity for it. We are presently searching for an instructor to teach arm knitting like you see in the large bulky blankets that are so popular right now. If you know how to do that or know of someone that would be willing to teach a class, let us know.

It is that time of year that we are encouraging residents to crochet or knit hats and scarves for the Denver Rescue Mission. You may use our beautiful, donated yarn. Just stop by the Club House office and someone will help you.

This Thursday, September 8th from 10:00-12:00 we will be hammering real flowers onto printing paper. The petal's pigmentation and outline will transfer on to the paper creating a beautiful arrangement of flowers. From those we will make greeting cards. All you need to bring is a hammer and flowers from your garden (or your neighbor's garden) to crush. All other supplies will be provided. It will be great fun and the results are beautiful.
