Did you know that enslaved labor has been the foundational growth of the American economy? Producing lucrative commodities such as cotton and tobacco. After emancipation, Black labor was essential in agriculture and service.
There are many influential Africans Americans that have been influential in the continuous struggle for social equity. There are many resources online that are centered around achievements, perspectives and experiences to learn from. Within the narrative of my family history, it is said that we may be a descendant of the famous American historian, Carter G. Woodson through a common ancestor. Mr. Woodson was the founder of the Association for the study of African American Life and History. He was the first to study the history of the African diaspora including African American history.
